The 6th annual Tallgrass Film Festival, October 23-26, features more than 100 of the best independent films from around the world, including 25 feature films, and parties with some of the actors and filmmakers. The events will be located at the Warren Old Town Theater and various venues around downtown. YPWs can purchase a discounted VIP pass which gets you into everything for $100. The Opening Night Gala will feature a work in progress screening of the documentary WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH KANSAS?, based on the best-selling novel by Thomas Frank. Closing Night features the Midwest premier of THE DEAL, starring William H. Macy, Meg Ryan, LL Cool J and Jason Ritter, followed by a party at the Ulrich Museum. Jason Ritter and the the film's producers will be in attendance. More than 15 visiting filmmakers will attend the 2008 Tallgrass Film Festival from all over the country to present their films to Wichita audiences and attend VIP events like the Mayor's Welcome to Wichita BBQ and the Dean & DeLuca Filmmaker Lounge at City Arts.

Wednesday (7/30) and Thursday (7/31) look to be back-to-back nights out in Wichita! On Wednesday, head over to Oeno for IronTender. Starting at 7pm, 16 of Wichita's best bartenders will compete to createthe best martini and cocktail using Bombay Sapphire Gin. Thursday night is a Sumo Nightlife Party. From 8pm - 11:30pm they will be serving up $3 Grey Goose drinks and $2 Coronas.

Old Town Warren

So by this point, the fact that the Old Town Warren has received a $6M low-interest loan from the City is old news. Oscars will close. Possible new conference space will be added. We don't really have final word there. In an interesting twist, Bill Warren is now asking for the public to speak out about what they want to see done with the theatre. Surveys will soon start to go out and your feedback will be requested. So, what do you think? What would attract you to visit the Old Town Warren more often? Let's get our voice heard here!
